Charge Nurse – Special Care Unit ICU/HDU – 0.8-1.0 FTE

Reporting to the Patient Services Manager, the role of the Charge Nurse is to provide professional management and clinical and nursing leadership in the private surgical environment.

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Manager or Senior Registered Nurse to manage our small but busy Special Care Unit.

With nine operating theatres and two endoscopy suites, 85 beds, plus a five bed ICU/HDU Special Care Unit providing care for patients undergoing complex surgical procedures, cardiac surgery and post cardiac procedure monitoring.

Braemar provides a comprehensive range of surgical and medical services on both a day stay and inpatient basis.

The Charge Nurse role ensures effective day to day clinical management across SCU, working collaboratively with internal management and clinical leaders and liaising with specialists.

The Charge Nurse role is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating relevant clinically focused education systems and resources to maintain and nurture staff skills, knowledge and competencies. This role is responsible for promoting excellence in clinical practice, ensuring the provision of high quality nursing care for patients in line with Braemar Hospital’s vision and values.

 

Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate the following experience and abilities:

  • A minimum of five years recent and relevant clinical ICU experience
  • Proven ability to lead a team and a strong decision maker who is solutions driven, and focused on service delivery.
  • Evidence of quality improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders; including patients, surgeons and the members of your team and role modelling excellence in service provision for all customers- internal and external
  • Have experience in supporting change.
  • A positive energy, enthusiastic attitude and an ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
